The irony of food safety audits

I’ve seen it happen more than once: a facility that takes great pride in its cleanliness fails an audit because a staff member thought it would be ‘fun’ to decorate the processing area with spilled flour. It’s amusing until you realize that those flour particles could have led to contamination. Anyone else have a laughable story about compliance blunders?

I’ve seen that happen too! Once, a supervisor pulled a prank with colored sprinkles for a meeting, and it ended up in the processing area. A little fun can lighten the mood, but it’s a fine line when it comes to food safety. It’s all fun and games until someone gets a surprise during the audit, right?
